Construction men fashion

There is a huge construction around where I live and I've seen a lot of construction men lately. Very interestingly, I've spot this very popular 'fashion trend' among them (as seen in the picture above). It seems that a lot of them like to  roll their shirt right up to where you can see their tummies and most of time their ni.. ahem...yes... I can't say this is too attractive but I do really like the white tee pairing up with destroyed jeans and rain boots and I do agree that this can be a way to diffuse heat.

So, here comes my  interpretation of their trend, ENJOY!

I have no rain boots but ankle boots work nicely too.

White tee (Ben Sherman), destroyed jeans (Superdry), ankle boots (Initial), and  messy hair. Perfect!

Top 5 Best Buy #2

Welcome to the second edition of Top 5.

I bought all of these in the last month with the exception of number 5.
Here it goes.

No. 5
White Chocolate & Parmesan Popcorn by Chef Tony's

Ok, a friend gave this to me as a present.
Who knew two savoury and sweet flavours would mix so well together?
The only let down is that this product is only available in the Philippines.
If this is available in our country, I would probably go buy it every week, it's that good.
As Bi says, "ho mei dou soh jor", it's so delicious it makes you go crazy (in a good way of course).
Here at the April lounge, we are all debating where to place this product at its deserving ranking. Some say that it should be put at a higher spot, but I can only place it at no. 5, as its not available to us at the moment. It's like a craving or obsession that we can't satisfy.
Chef Tony, if you are reading this, we would love it if you'd bring your gourmet popcorn worldwide.
Thanks.

No. 4
'Game on' Nude Nail Polish by Kit Cosmetics

Smooth. Easy to apply. Doesn't glug. Dries quickly. Long lasting.
Most of all, it doesn't make my nails and cuticles feel dry after days of application.
Kit also offers a lovely collection of colours.
What more do you want?

 No. 3
Bamboo Powder Brush by EcoTools

A super fine and smooth brush for my face.
I got this as part of a 6 piece set for only 8AUD, that's roughly 60HKD. What a bargain!
What I love most about this brand is that they are doing their bit to help the environment.
The taklon bristles are animal friendly, and the handle is made from bamboo timber.
Yay for helping the environment.

No. 2
GorillaPod by JOBY

A pod for photography lovers.
Flexible. Convenient. Fun to use.
All you need is something for it to wrap around to.
You can check out Kai's review here.

No. 1
Lavender Silk Finishing Powder by Jurlique

A translucent finishing powder hiding away pores, blemishes and oily skin.
It makes my face feeling silky smooth from morning to evening, while staying matte.
And I can still smell the lavender scent hours after application.
Also, Jurlique is all about using natural ingredients for the skin.
It is on the expensive side of things but it's well worth it.

The battle between two amazing foundation

The beauty trend of having that flawless, dewy and natural-looking skin has been going on forever and I don't see the end of it. Thick foundation and too powdery looking face are so out of the season. On top of all the skin cares we are piling on our face, who really wants another layer of heavy foundation and powder to suffocate our skin, especially during the summer time.

Scarlett Johansson at the Avengers premiere with make-up looking perfect!

There are two foundation I'm currently in loved with (I love one a little bit more, you will see which), that help me achieving the perfect looking skin without being heavy. Lets have a battle fight between........

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation VS Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation

fight fight fighttttt......

Top:  Healthy Mix , Bottom: Vitalumiere Aqua (look the same)

Review: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation

Heard A LOT of raves about this foundation and so I gave it a try. It meets my expectation, being light and smooth but still provides light-medium converge, enough for everyday use. I don't recommend skipping sunscreen but  SPF 15 is good for those lazy days. I use a pea-size amount of this foundation, focusing on the centre of my face and using my fingers or sometimes a sponge to blend it out. It even out of skin tone and brighten up my complexion. The finish is dewy and it lasts more than 10 hours with a light layer of powder on top.Very natural, doesn't set into fine lines under my eyes and moist enough for my skin (although the SA recommend the foundation  for oily skin but I don't have a problem with it). The price is high (around $460HKD) as expected, of course it's CHANEL!

Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation

I absolutely love this foundation. It is very similar to the chanel one without the SPF15. But without SPF doesn't bother me too much because I apply sunscreen almost everyday anyway. And actually it makes the product more versatile because it's better for flash photography (won't give you that white mask).  Other than that, healthy mix is a little creamier (chanel is definitely more liquidy ), lasts a bit longer, provides a little more converge, is a lot cheaper than chanel (around $240HKD)and it is as natural and light. I hate foundation that oxidises and becomes deeper than the colour you first pumped out. Both chanel and healthymix do not oxidise noticeably.  YAY!

Overall guess which wins the battle here????

Healthy Mix!!!

A little tip in choosing foundation, if you have yellow undertone like me, choose a pink undertone foundation will naturalise and brighten up your complexion! Awesome!

Cut out collar from blouser

Blouse,
Fine, I'll take it!
回家 cut out 了collar,
用$99買了一個full of studd的collar,

Are you paranoid?

Do you stress over the amount of "friends" you have on facebook? Do you still reread your tweets and status over and over again after you have posted them up, contemplating how witty or funny they sound? Do you get upset because no one liked or commented on one of your posts?

I recently read an article in a magazine about the paranoia of social networking. It is a form of depression that the victims become insecure about themselves in everything they do or share with the social world. The above questions are some of the symptoms that the article mentioned. One of the sufferers in the article were convinced that her very good friend has started to defriend her because her friend wasn't replying to her message on facebook when in actual fact, the friend was simply busy. This self consciousness turns into a fear of acceptance because we know that people will critique and judge us based on what we put on our social media.

That's right, we now live in a society where it is the norm or even "socially acceptable" to critique on everything we see and hear, and do you realise that we never hesitate to do so? Even we ourselves know that we will be judged by others and we let it happen. After all what can we do, right?

Don't say you haven't looked at someone's 'myspace angles' profile picture and thought how try hard or pretentious they look. Yes you know the one, the one where the person takes a camera above their head and takes a photo of their eye (one), pout and chest.
Don't say you haven't watched Rebbecca Black's 'Friday' video and laughed at how stupid it is or cringing the song sounds. Even these kids do so, so naturally and innocently.
Don't say you haven't looked when Susan Boyle was first on stage and doubted her singing abilities.

Spikaholic

If my friends were asked to use one single word to describe Miss B, I bet the word "標奇立異" comes top. And yes, I am the kinda weirdo who is always eager to explore all sort of stuffs just to make sure the script of life drama is filled as dramatic as possible.
Life is short. No time for dullness.

For many people, spikes are too outrageous, too awkward, too punk, too rebellious, "well I aint Gaga" "ooooh it really isnt my thing" " too edgy" and the "ooo oooo too tooo " goes on blahhhhhh....
For some fashionistas, Spikes and studds? Excuse me? PAST TENSE
 I-DARE-YOU.
Still in love with all these statement spikes and studds!

(left to right
spiky evil eye, spiky statement necklace

All from Topshop,
headband from forgotten online shop,
bangle from La Foret @852)

Well,the thing about fashion.....
You can use it to hide, but it's only magic when you use it to express who you really are.

Enjoy the bank holiday.
